Blizzard planning changes to Overwatch 2 Battle Passes with future seasons
Blizzard is changing how season passes will work in the future surveillance 2.
In a blog post on the official website, the game’s executive producer Jared Neuss acknowledged that the move to a free-to-play model “has been a big change,” with the new business model and new systems for unlocking heroes and earning new skins.
According to Neuss, like the players, Blizzard isn’t “completely happy with how everything feels right now” and is working to make the upcoming seasons “more rewarding.”
When Season 2 arrives, players will find that development has changed the rewards so that each event has a reward that you can earn by playing, in addition to the other cosmetic rewards already on offer.
Twitch drops will also continue so players can earn in-game skins and items by supporting creators.
Long term For Season 3 and beyond, Blizzard is looking at a mix of Battle Pass changes, more interesting Challenges to chase, and more “exciting gameplay-focused progression systems.” Neuss said the teams will discuss some of the changes soon, but other changes may “take more time to nail down.”
Monetization has been one of the main issues with players since launch, so hopefully teams have listened well and changes in upcoming seasons will sit well with players.
