You can finish the Diablo 4 battle pass and not earn enough Platinum to buy a single item in the store

Since before the start of Diablo 4’s first season, Season of the Malignant, the season battle pass has been criticized for its apparent lack of meaningful content, but also for the amount of premium currency (Platinum) it awards players who complete it.
While there’s no particular standard in this area, many games, like Call of Duty/Warzone, offer enough premium currency rewards to buy the next one, meaning you only need to buy one battle pass. This assumes, of course, that you shred each battle step to completion.
But Diablo 4’s battle pass doesn’t give you enough Platinum to buy the next one, which is surprising considering both Call of Duty and Diablo are Activision Blizzard games, not to mention their monetization models are almost identical.
That’s not all, though, as it looks like Blizzard just dealt another blow to players who opted to purchase the Season 1 Battle Pass. As seen by Reddit user Caddy-Whompusfinishing the battle pass only nets you 666 Platinum.
While we appreciate Blizzard’s commitment to the Hell/666 theme and all (the developer even revealed that Diablo 4 had made $666 million from first week sales alone), this is one area where it didn’t need to compromise.
That’s because 666 Platinum isn’t enough to buy a single item from the in-game premium shop, as prices start at 800 Platinum. If you want to buy something, you have to save up your multi-season Platinum or just take out your credit card and make up the difference.
On its own, it’s not a huge problem, but it’s another thing that ruins player feelings in Season 1, particularly after the major nerf patch. While Blizzard is already working on changing the way it releases patches, many of those changes remain.
Of course, we’ll be getting another patch in two weeks time, which is set to restore players’ faith in the game with a number of balance tweaks and gameplay changes, all of which will be discussed before the patch releases this time. Look out for the next Campfire Chat on Friday, July 28.
