Xbox branded “cheeky” as it highlights 12 PlayStation Showcase titles coming to Xbox

It was a big night for PlayStation last night, huh? Metal Gear Solid, plus Metal Gear Solid, the sequel to the cyberpunk hometown Ghostrunner 2, a release date for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Alan Wake 2 showing a descent into madness, and a massive, unexpected look at the thrilling Dragon’s Dogma 2.

The secret is out of the box.

Given that this was a massive showcase for Sony (and their first since 2021, no less), you’d be forgiven for thinking that all of these games were PlayStation exclusives, or at least coming to the PS5 with special features or something. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

As noted in a cool cheep which flew out of Xbox social media the moment the showcase ended, 12 of the games included in the showcase will be coming to Xbox platforms, as well as PlayStation or PC.

These games are:

  • Dragon’s Dogma 2, no release date. Stop flipping through your pawns and get into the fight.
  • Marathon, no release date. Bungie finally emerges from Destiny’s salt mines.
  • Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, no release date. Boss is back and brings with it a 4K texture pack.
  • Immortals of Aveum, due in July. Alex thinks he’s very good and seems like a mix of CoD, Doom and Doctor Strange.
  • Assassin’s Creed Miragefor October 12. If you want to learn more about the awesome soundtrack of the game, I wrote something in my column in the Guardian about the care and love that went into making it.
  • alan stela 2scheduled for October 17. A sequel to one of the best horror games of all time.
  • Demolishavailable in 2023. Voxel-based chaos of destruction.
  • The beginning of Talos 2available in 2023. The long-awaited sequel to the 2014 philosophical puzzler.
  • the brave squirefrom 2023. A colorful platform game that will make you jump from 3D platforms to top-down dungeons.
  • ghost runner 2available in 2023. See link above for more information.
  • snow, aiming for a 2024 release. From the team that brought you Gris comes the story of a young woman and her lifelong bond with a magnificent wolf cub as they embark on an adventure through a rapidly dying world. . Get ready for tears.
  • Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean2024. Play as a fearless privateer in this 2.5D open-world action RPG set in a pirate-themed fantasy world.

It’s not a sprint.

Perhaps the most interesting cross-platform title is Marathon, the new PvP extraction shooter coming from Bungie. In early 2022, we learned that Sony was going to acquire Bungie for a whopping $3.6 billion. Now, the creator of Destiny is part of the PlayStation Studios family… and he’s releasing his next game on Xbox. It’s a curious thing, and I’m eager to learn more as the dust settles.

There are still some ‘pure’ PlayStation exclusives in the mix, of course: Final Fantasy 16 and Spider-Man 2 are the most notable (although, you never know, it’s possible Square Enix’s RPG might hit Xbox consoles at some point). moment..never say never, and all that).
