Wholesome Diablo 4 players are trying to make up for the game’s lack of social features

The bigger Diablo 4 gets, the more pressing the need for in-game social features becomes. Diablo 4 has the best party scaling system in its class, but is let down by the lack of a basic LFG system.

The problem doesn’t become apparent until after you finish the campaign, reach level 50, and start diving into endgame. Although most players can access the solo campaign content without issue, things start to get significantly more difficult late game.

I hope you have lots of friends to explore this great world with.

Diablo 4 is an MMO, but it doesn’t have some basic party-finding features that are typical of most MMOs. The game even wants players to group up, with XP gain boosts even applying to players who are in close proximity to each other. Especially in the late game, Diablo 4 becomes much more hostile to solo players.

This is exemplified by the game’s Capstone dungeons, which you must clear in order to progress towards the different world levels. These are grueling, multi-level dungeons that are meant for groups, even if it’s possible to do it solo.

reddit user awesome prawn, who suffered in one of those dungeons because he ran it alone, decided to help other players who were struggling with their own Capstone dungeons. They did this by looking at Xbox Live LFG requests and responding to join random parties and help them do so.

Apparently people are offering over 2 million gold for the service of helping them get through dungeons, which is a lot of in-game money. But AwesomePrawn wasn’t after Gold, they just wanted to save others from the misery they experienced.

Be the light in the dark, answer those LFG requests.

“The variety of people I met and spoke to last night was insane, from kids to grandparents,” they wrote. “The first people I spoke to were a married couple with a wicked sense of humor, making fun of each other, calling each other names, but you could tell it was a very positive part of their relationship and it was quite adorable, I’ll admit.”

But the best part of the experience was meeting a 70-year-old grandfather who has been playing Diablo for decades.

“Such a sweet older gentleman from Texas whose joy and enthusiasm for the game was just contagious and heartwarming. This guy obviously loved building his character and finding the perfect team for his class and even taught me something I didn’t know when it came to spend Murmuring Obols, so thank you Bad JuJu.”
