Wholesome Diablo 4 community helps voice actor find his character in the game

Even by Blizzard standards, Diablo 4 is set in a big world filled with large cities, small towns, open-air communities, and offshore camps of shady individuals. Part of the reason the world feels so alive is the staggering number of characters that exist in it.

Diablo 4 has multiple levels of NPCs. At the bottom are those that only go a line or two, and above them are the flavor NPCs that you can talk to and learn about the world, but have nothing else to offer.

The quality of the voice acting is one of the best things about Diablo 4.

Then there are the more subtle quest givers, the companions who sometimes take you on multi-stage quests, and of course the supporting characters from the game’s large cast. All of which is to say that teams of voice actors were needed to bring these characters to life.

On the other hand, if you did the job months or even years before the game came out, you may not know where your character actually ended up. This was the case for voice actor and Reddit user TheFourthAct, who played a small role and wanted to see his work in Diablo 4.

So they did what anyone would do in their situation, ask the Reddit community for help. TheFourthAct provided some tips to help players identify their character. The actor played one of the barbaric spirits that attack the player, with a few choice quotes like “We will never fall to the main evils” and “Bul-Kathos grant me strength”.

“The idea of the role that I was told during the session is that these are spirits of dead barbarians who mistake the player for servants of Prime Evils,” TheFourthAct explained. “Supposedly, the player has to kill the spirits to get the ‘Blessing of Major Evils’.”

Diablo 4 players took less than a day to find exactly where the dialog appears. That part is too deep into the third act of the game’s story, so don’t continue if you’re sensitive to spoilers.

Barbarian, stay together.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT.

As you can see in Bue’s video below, this all happens in the third act when the player goes to receive Mephisto’s blessing. As part of the quest, you can fight against the spirits of the barbarians who believe that you are working for Prime Evils.

Although the bosses are named, the character in question is sadly unnamed and is simply referred to as ‘Barbarian’ in the subtitles. Still, it’s a cool gesture for an up-and-coming actor.
