The Witcher 3 is getting a next-gen update in December 14thfree for all owners of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
In terms of what’s actually being tweaked, the game will receive “dozens” of improvements to visuals, performance, faster load times, and technical improvements. It will also feature ray tracing support and a variety of mods fully integrated into the game. In short, it will become the most beautiful and best-functioning version of The Witcher 3 on consoles.
For those interested in The Witcher Netflix series, the game will also receive new content inspired by said series. We don’t know what it will be exactly, but a broadcast is planned next week on CD Projekt Red. The Twitch channel will apparently reveal more.
For those without a next-gen console, various enhancements are also planned for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3, as well as Netflix Witcher-themed content. However, at the time of writing, there is no release date for that update.
Overall, it’s great to see one of the best RPGs in recent memory receive continued support, especially as more fans flock to the series thanks to Henry Cavill’s performance, even with its recasting. Here’s hoping they don’t spoil themselves too much and stay involved in the story by the time The Witcher 1 Remake is released. Either way, another excuse to play The Witcher 3 is fine by me!
