Tears of the Kingdom players are finding creative solutions to pet the dog

Unfortunately, you can’t pet the dog in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but that doesn’t mean players won’t find ways to do it.
Tears of the Kingdom is obviously a favorite for game of the year. There is no doubt about it, the game sold 10 million copies in three days and is currently the highest rated game of all time on OpenCritic. There’s just one overwhelmingly glaring and catastrophic flaw about it: you can’t pet the dog (although you can befriend him, and here’s how). I know, I know, it almost ruined the game for me too. There’s a whole Twitter about petting the dog, Nintendo! Get with the times! Luckily though, players are helping the rest of us, as some are finding creative ways to be able to pet the dog.
Ironically, the way some players are finding ways to pet the dog comes from the Ultrahand ability, which allows you to create all sorts of wacky and wonderful creations. Therefore, players have been taking advantage of this new, slightly overpowered ability by making some gadgets to be able to pet the dog.
GreenyRob85’s version is quite simple but effective: he just took a square wooden board, placed four tree trunks as fingers, and used Ultrahand to raise his makeshift hand to pet the dog. Sure, it’s a bit big and could splinter the dog, but what other options are there?
Well, you could be like Noah and make an automated contraption that regularly divides the pets, as long as you position the dog in the correct position. This one uses a wheel for a hand, which isn’t perfect, but it’s something.

Good Vibes Gaming’s Jon Cartright showed off his take on a stroking contraption, which took some experimenting, but has one thing the others don’t: a real hand! Sure, it could be the arm of a Stalkoblin, but country boys get by.
While we may not be able to pet the dog without some kind of overly complicated contraption, at least we have amateur artists to fill in the gaps.
