Street Fighter 6’s first new DLC character looks like a breath of fresh air

Street Fighter 6’s first DLC character Rashid is coming to the game July 24.

A fan favorite of Street Fighter 4, Rashid is a devastating dash character capable of jumping high and engaging in tricky aerial setups with his win-based kit. He can also throw tornadoes at you, which, you know, is pretty cool! Rashid is also the series’ first Middle Eastern character, so it’s exciting to see him return.

His reveal comes with a new trailer showing off his move set. We see many of his previous moves return, as well as some truly despicable combos. With the character dropping just before Evo, he can be sure people will grind him down and unearth all the potential he can.

Here’s another thing: what a glow! Rashid doesn’t just look amazing in Street Fighter 6, older and with his excellent beard pulled back and better than ever. It’s also nice to see that silly visor is gone. Also, in my opinion, he has one of the best taunts in the game judging from the trailer of him, quickly launching push-ups and spins that bring out the energetic character of him.

It’s an interesting move to make it a live streamer! Bandai Namco did this before with Julia in Tekken 7, it’s a common way to modernize the backstory of older characters. Rashid, with his over-the-top attitude towards fighting, is a perfect fit for this role, and it’s great to see him play into his tier three critical art as well.

Honestly, Rashid has given me hope for the remaining characters returning with the Street Fighter 6 Season 1 DLC pass. He got such a great deal here, putting an end to any concerns with Akuma and Ed. Rest in peace to him though. the Rashidooo from his old track; maybe they will bring it back some other way.
