street fighter 6 It’s clearly doing pretty well already, as the latest in the fighting game series hit a million players in its first three days.

Earlier today, the Japanese Street Fighter account shared that the recently released sequel managed to reach over a million players in the first three days of launch. On top of that, with these figures, the total number of copies sold of the series has surpassed 50 million. There’s some cute artwork thanking players for reaching the milestone, and there was also the promise of an in-game reward to celebrate, which is apparently a profile title.

However, in the UK, it has failed to beat The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in terms of boxed sales, as reported by GamesIndustry.biz. Street Fighter 6 managed to debut at number two on the UK charts, and while it’s apparently not a very strong start in terms of boxed sales, most of the sales are likely to come from digital sales anyway. With a million players reached, it seems that the game is going well.

It’s certainly a much stronger start compared to the previous entry in the series, Street Fighter 5, which only managed to sell 1.4 million copies in the first month of the game’s release. In general, Street Fighter 5 was pretty poorly received by fans at the time of its release, particularly due to the lack of arcade and story modes, as well as major issues with rage.

Street Fighter 6, on the other hand, is clearly being well received by fans, having also quickly surpassed Mortal Kombat as the most played fighting game on Steam. It also has an incredibly good review, with Alex from VG247 giving the game 5/5 stars in his review, noting the solid fighting system and the varied content modes.
