Star Ocean: the Second Story coming to Nintendo Switch November 2
[ad_1]
Star Ocean: The Second Story R was just announced during today’s Nintendo Direct. A remake of the second Star Ocean game will launch on Nintendo Switch on November 2.
The game has brand new graphics that mixes 2D and 3D in a new great looking engine. See great pixel models moving in 3D environments, plus beautiful 2D drawn character portraits.
The real-time battle system from the original games returns, where you can control and fight with the characters in your party with more freedom than the typical turn-based RPG system of that era. With the new version, you can stun enemies with chain attacks and call allies not currently in your active party for limited assistance during battle.
In Star Ocean: The Second Story R, you can choose between Claude or Rena as the main character, playing the story in their shoes. Your choice will affect the different party members you can recruit, as well as events in the narrative, so it’s quite an important decision!
A remake of Star Ocean 1 (titled Star Ocean: First Departure R) was released in 2019 to average reviews.
The remake of Star Ocean 1 came out in 2019? According to critics like our friends at Nintendo Life, was a fairly standard remake of the classic RPG that was “starting to show its age”. Hopefully with the revamped battle system and new footage attached to Star Ocean: The Second Story R it will help modernize this new title.
What do you think of this new remake? Will you pick it up this November? Let us know! For more Nintendo Direct news, check out the new Super Mario RPG Remake announcement!
