Oscar Isaac says that he’s “hopeful” about the Metal Gear Solid movie, but has no big updates to offer

Oscar Isaac was recently asked about the solid metal gear movie, which apparently still has “hope” for it to happen.
A film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid has been in the works for a decade, with Oscar Isaac joining the project in 2020 as Solid Snake. Since then, we haven’t heard much, but in a recent interview with Comic bookthe actor touched on the project, even if he didn’t have a definitive update on what exactly is going on with it.
“We want it to happen,” Isaac said. “Be excited. What’s the script? What’s the story? What’s the shot? […] But I hope that comes to fruition because there is a lot of potential for that. It’s an amazing game. It is my favorite.”
It’s not a bit clear what exactly the Star Wars actor means when he asks what the script or story is, though he could be asking from the audience’s perspective. The film is set to be helmed by Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who is presumably still attached, with Pokémon: Detective Pikachu writer Derek Connoly penning the script, and the trilogy producer original Spider-Man Avi Arad in charge of production.
Metal Gear Solid obviously has many filmic origins, as creator Hideo Kojima is a well-known cinephile. So it’s a mixture of fate and irony that the project exists, considering the fact that Kojima failed to break into the film industry.
Video game movies tend to be a mixed bag, but there has been a more recent trend where they are actually good and even make some money. The quality of the Uncharted movie is up for debate, but it made a lot of money at the box office, and the second Sonic movie made even more money than that, with a third movie and the Knuckles series on the way.
