Modern Warfare 2 weapons, skins and operators will carry over to CoD 2023 for the first time ever

Activision hasn’t said a single official word about this year’s Call of Duty. The publisher previously confirmed its existence, of course, and revealed that it will be a full premium release, and not an expansion to Modern Warfare 2 as previous reports have indicated.
But as far as the name, release date, details on what’s coming or which of Activision’s studios is working on it, we haven’t heard anything yet.
Today, however, the company may have uttered the first official word on call of duty 2023 via the franchise’s official Twitter account. The account confirmed a major feature of this year’s game, albeit in a cheesy way.
The Call of Duty Twitter account posted a poll asking players if Modern Warfare 2 Operators, Weapons and Packs should carry over to Call of Duty 2023. The two answers are ‘Yes’ and ‘Yes, when? is revealed?’
Let’s get this out of the way…

Obviously, that pretty much confirms that the content players have been stockpiling over the past year in Modern Warfare 2 will be usable in this year’s Call of Duty. This is the first time for the long-running series. With the arrival of Warzone, players expect that packages/weapons/operators from different games can be used in Battle Royale mode, but never in the next year’s premium game.
That was almost always a result of the different engines each game was built on, and the different themes/eras each game was after. Each individual Call of Duty game was also run by a different studio, with their own design philosophies and gameplay priorities.
But it was largely reported that Call of Duty 2023 began as a paid expansion to last year’s Modern Warfare 2, before it became a full release. That would explain why content from Modern Warfare 2 may carry over to this year’s Call of Duty.
As for the game itself, it is rumored that it will simply be called Modern Warfare 3with its campaign picking up from where Modern Warfare 2 left off. Multiplayer will also build on the same foundation, though there are rumors that Sledgehammer Games (who are said to be developing it) will make some changes to the mechanics, such as speed. of player movement, the minimap, etc.
And in case the Modern Warfare 3 name wasn’t entirely believable, Activision has started issuing DMCA warnings to Twitter accounts for showing “Cal of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 content leaked” according to Twitter users who had their content removed.
Call of Duty 2023 is expected to launch sometime in November, with a full reveal likely sometime in August, possibly after the Modern Warfare Season 4 finale on August 9.
