Midnight Ghost Hunt haunts Epic Games Store as latest freebie

The latest weekly giveaway from the Epic Games Store is midnight ghost hunt.

Replacing last week’s free-to-play Death Stranding game, Midnight Ghost Hunt is a 4v4 multiplayer title where spirits haunt the halls and you’re tasked with taking out as a Ghost Hunter.

You’ve got all sorts of ghost-hunting tech to banish them, if you want, because you get to play ghost instead.

As a ghost, you can hide inside harmless objects like furniture, lamps, and even clocks to evade ghost hunters. When they least suspect it, you can turn the environment against them with a telekinetic blast.

Ghostly perks include avoiding traps with Untrappable, seeing nearby hunters through walls with Perception, and extending possession range with Ghostly Reach.

When midnight comes, the Hunters become the hunted, and the ghosts overload, giving the Hunters a limited time to survive.

You must communicate with your team to ensure victory, especially regarding the paths enemies travel. You can also choose from several high-tech devices designed to expel ghosts. To detect them, you can use the spectrophone, radar and scout, capture them with a trap and vacuum their remains with the vacuum cleaner. Alternatively, you can smash them to pieces with the spectral cannon, mallets, harpoons, salt-spitting shotguns, and more.

As a hunter, you can also select Perks to get a special boost. Choose from Lightweight’s burst of added speed, Healing Aura’s health replenishment capabilities, and many more powers to get ahead of the game.

Your hunt will take place in various settings, including an abandoned theater, a mansion, and a cursed pirate ship. Each location brings different tactical considerations and elements and various opportunities to play a trick on opponents.

And this is just the beginning because you can expect more once the game leaves Early Access.
