Mass Effect sequel teased on N7 day with cryptic video unravelled by fans

[ad_1]

day N7 has come and gone, with a number of updates and a cool trailer for the future of Mass Effect coming along with it. The most exciting of which is a short video, initially jumbled and fragmented at launch, but quickly figured out by the online Mass Effect community.

The full collection of updates can be found on the official N7 Day blog post. This webpage begins by introducing the world to a selection of senior developers working on the next big Mass Effect project, including project manager Mike Gamble, who previously worked on Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem.

Rewatch the trailer for Mass Effect Legendary Edition if you want to tempt yourself with another full playthrough.

The post also lays out a number of N7 day promotions that fans of the series can take part in, including some N7 day cosmetics for The Sims 4 set to release on November 17. In addition, new IRL clothing ranges were launched in the Bioware Gear store, Sanshee, Dark Horse Design and Volante.

Finally, there is that teaser video. After cracking it, you can hear a dialogue exchange between fellow Mass Effect and Shadow Broker Liara T’Soni, and a robotic life form of some kind. She says “Exactly. The Council will be furious. Although, they should already know not to underestimate the human challenge. [robotic response] I see it. How did we miss this?

So, as you can imagine, the bloodhounds are going crazy trying to break up the conversation. While Liara’s voice is unmistakable. The robot she seems to be talking to looks a lot like a Geth, which is pretty exciting considering Legion was one of the best squadmates in the series (I won’t accept replicas). Additionally, mention of the council implies that some degree of social reconstruction has occurred since the events of Mass Effect 3.

One of the big problems is that it’s hard to tell exactly how much time has passed since the events of Mass Effect 3. The giant space structure we see doesn’t look much like anything we’ve seen before in the series, though it does share some visual similarities with the relays from previous games.

Either way, it’s an exciting (if small) dripping fountain for thirsty Mass Effect fans. We have no idea when the next game will be released, or even revealed, but with senior staff coming forward and publicly working on it, I can’t imagine it being much longer. Fingers crossed!
