Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC finally lets us play as the Kingdom’s most powerful Magikoopa

During the June Nintendo Direct, fans of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe were treated to the reveal of Reinforcement course Pass Wave 5. Now, Nintendo has revealed the new tracks and other things racers can expect from 12th of July.
This particular installment of DLC not only provides new Grand Prix Cups for players to race in, but also some new playable characters to try out. This includes the most powerful Magikoopa in the Kingdom, but more on them later!
Pump up those tires, Wave 5 is almost here! Eight additional courses and three returning characters come to the #Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass on 07/12.

First, eight new tracks are coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of two new Cups. Most of these tracks were recycled from previous Mario Kart titles and animated to fit the style of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but there’s one track that’s brand new! The cups and their associated tracks are as follows:
cherry cup
- Return to Los Angeles (Mario Kart Tour)
- Sunset Wilds (Mario Kart Super Circuit)
- Koopa Cape (Mario Kart Wii)
- Vancouver Speed (Mario Kart Tour)
feather cup
- Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour)
- Daisy Cruiser (Mario Kart: Double Race!)
- Moonview Highway (Mario Kart Wii)
- Squeaky clean sprint
I’m not the biggest fan of Mario Kart Tour tracks, even if they are inspired by some pretty scenic real-life landmarks. However, I’m delighted to see Moonview Highway from Mario Kart Wii make the cut; It’s not Waluigi Pinball, but it’s a nice drift track. However, we will have to wait until July 12 to test the tracks.
Along with these new courses, you can also expect to welcome new characters: Petey Piranha, Kamek, and Wiggler.
Kamek is a fan-favorite baddie, as he is an adviser to Bowser and one of the most powerful members of the Koopa Troop. Joining him is Petey Piranha, a mutant antagonist of the Piranha Plant who first appears in Super Mario Sunshine. Last but not least, we will also welcome the adorable Wiggler, this charming caterpillar gets very angry when someone gets in his way, so it will certainly be fun to compete against him.
Now give us some new karts to ride, Nintendo! What do you think of wave 5 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass DLC? Any clues or characters you’re especially eager to try out?
