Here’s your first look at 10+ minutes Star Wars Outlaws open-world gameplay

Yesterday’s Xbox Game Showcase saw the reveal of the Star Wars title that Ubisoft has been working on: Star Wars Outlaws. Today’s Ubisoft Forward has given us an even closer look at the game, which is set to release in 2024.

Star Wars Outlaws takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, featuring a human protagonist of Kay Vess. Vess is a scoundrel hoping to pull off one of the biggest heists in Outer Rim history, and they’ll do it in the company of a lovable sidekick, Nix.

Today’s Ubisoft Forward showed a gameplay trailer for Star Wars Outlaws on the Snowdrop engine, and I got a good look at Nix, so I was happy. The gameplay on display was pretty stealthy to begin with, and we can even use our little scaly friend to help us out wherever we go. Combat looks promising too, with high-speed chases, spaceflight, and some slow-motion combat to play with. Oh, and Nix can ride on the back of your motorcycle. Does this fellow get cuter?

The adorable space axlotl aside, players will explore areas both familiar and new to Star Wars Outlaws as the scoundrel Kay Vess. Your abilities in battle aren’t the only thing that matters either; With dialog choices to make, you’ll want to choose how to handle some interactions carefully to avoid trouble…or look for it.

Now, I’m not one for Star Wars games unless it has LEGO in the title, but I’m a fan of cute sidekicks like Nix. Let’s not also forget about the BX commando droid we’ve seen accompanying Vess, which also looks pretty cool. Outlaws all-in-all seeks to tell a rogue story set in an open world during the height of the galaxy-wide conflict and, honestly, onward.

Star Wars Outlaws is coming to PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X in 2024.
