Former Halo Infinite multiplayer lead gets ready to run a Marathon

from Bungie next extraction shooter Marathon has apparently added infinite halo multiplayer leader to your team.
Andrew Witts, the former multiplayer lead on Halo Infinite, with other titles like Fortnite and Rainbow Six Siege under his belt, announced last week that he’s joined Bungie as director of game design on Marathon. “I’m excited to share that I’ve completed my first week at Bungie!” Witts wrote on his personal Twitter. “I will be joining Marathon as Director of Gameplay Design. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly. I’m delighted to be working with this brilliant and incredibly talented team.”
Witts has worked as a game designer in the industry for 10 years, starting as a game design intern at Ubisoft and then working as a lead designer on Rainbow Six Siege for two years. He also worked at LawBreakers developer Boss Key Productions as a Senior Game Designer, and also served as a Lead Game Designer at Epic Games, both for one year each.
Marathon was announced during the May PlayStation showcase, marking it as Bungie’s first game for PS5 and PlayStation Studios PC. It’s also the developer’s first new game since Destiny, though it’s not a new IP, but more like a reimagining of one of their older IPs.
The original Marathon was a first-person shooter released in 1994, a science fiction game set several centuries in the future. While the new version of Marathon clings to that sci-fi vibe, it will ostensibly be an extraction shooter that “will find players pitted against one another as cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners, exploring a lost colony on the planet Tau Ceti IV in search of of wealth, fame and infamy”.
Not much else is known about Marathon at the moment – the reveal was just a cinematic trailer after all – but we do know that there will be crossplay and cross-save between PS5 and PC.
