Football Manager 2024 to be “last of its kind” – heads to Game Pass as the series undergoes drastic changes

[ad_1]

Football Manager 2024 has been described as the “last of its kind” in a recent blog post on the official Football Manager website. Titled “The Future of Football Manager”, several major changes and updates have been announced for the series that players will begin to see for themselves with next year’s release.

The post begins by diving into Football Manager 2024, stating that the game will come with a number of improvements, many bug fixes, and known issues from previous versions resolved. The blog post also reveals that you will be able to transfer save data from one version of Football Manager to the next. This means that if you have a file that you are actually connected to in Football Manager 23, you can move it to the next game. This will hold true for Football Manager 25 as well, despite the big changes to gameplay compared to previous iterations which we’ll touch on a bit later.

Football Manager 2024 will also be heading to Game Pass, following the huge success of Football Manager 2023 on the service which apparently played a big part in the game becoming the most played game in the series’ history.

Towards Football Manager 2025! The game is ostensibly the “next Football Manager revolution”, and the blog post compares it to when the 3D engine was added to the series with Football Manager 09. Football Manager 2025 will be the first game in the series to move to a new engine: Unity. The blog post describes how a small team at the studio whose goal was to address the technical future of the series, dubbed Project Dragonfly, came to the conclusion that Unity was the best engine to use in this “new era” for the series.

There will also be new animation technology integrated into the series. While players will start to see the fruits of this animation overhaul in Football Manager 2024 with ball physics and player locomotion, Football Manager 2025 will introduce most of the animation improvements such as graphical updates to models, stadiums and surrounding environments.

Women’s soccer is also coming to Football Manager! While it was initially revealed as a planned 2021 addition, there has since been radio silence on the feature. However, the blog post finally gives us a strong sign of life for the many teams present in women’s football. There will be another blog post soon that goes into more depth, but long story short, it’s coming soon.

The blog post concludes with an approximate reveal date for Football Manager 25 in the second quarter of 2024. Until then, expect much more information on Football Manager 24 in blog posts, videos and more in the near future.

So all in all a massive update for fans of Football Manager. It’s clear that if there was ever a time to jump in and start paying attention to the leader in sports management games, it’s now. For those who have loved the series for a long time, you’ll want to keep an eye on the official channels (and here) for future updates on this drastic change in Football Manager history.
