Final Fantasy 16 launch trailer shown at PlayStation Showcase May 2023 is rather busy

Final Fantasy 16 is coming. Soon. The game is less than a month away at the time of writing, so it stands to reason that Square Enix’s marketing machine is in full swing. Today, at PlayStation Showcase in May 2023, the publisher and developer unveiled a new trailer for the game, and you’d have to be made of stone not to get excited by what’s on offer.

This is probably the last FF16 trailer we’ll see before launch. Taste it.

It’s big, bold, intense – it has all the makings of a Final Fantasy trailer from years past. Even if the game ends up deviating a bit from that classic Final Fantasy formula, it’s nice to know that the cinematic scope and blockbuster heart remain.

What do you think? Is this a pretty good reveal, fitting for the first PlayStation Showcase we’ve seen since late 2021? As a major game on the PS5 roster, I think it has a very specific itch.

The trailer certainly lives up to everything we’ve seen of the game so far, be it the glowing praise our own Alex Donaldson left behind in his Final Fantasy 16 preview that dropped yesterday, or the PS5-specific article. . he made the game earlier in the year. You can see why the developer believes in the game so much that they don’t think the title needs a day one patch.

FF16 is going to be a true titan of the world of role-playing games.

Final Fantasy 16 will be released on June 22, 2023 for PlayStation 5. There’s no word on whether the game will be coming to PC or other consoles in the future (but we know for a fact that it won’t be coming anywhere else for at least six months). ).
