Fable loses its narrative lead, but you don’t need to worry about it

Anna Megill, the narrative protagonist of the next Fable game, has announced that he will step down in August.
The developer shared the news on her personal Twitter account, where she talked about the pleasure of working on the project. “Friends, I have news,” she read to herself in Megill’s tweet. “In August, I’ll be stepping down from my role as narrative lead on Fable. I’ve spent several wonderful years writing in my fairytale country house, but it feels like the time is right for new challenges.
“Working on Fable was a dream come true for me, and it’s heartbreaking to leave it behind. But Playground has assembled a heroically talented team, so I know they’re in good hands. I’m excited for what’s to come next, for them and for a my.”
It seems that shortly after his announcement, some enthusiastic fans of the game raised concerns about his departure from the project, but Megill later clarified that no one has anything to worry about: “Some people are being dumb, so let me be clear: I came to a good stopping point to abandon the project, so I did. And decided to take a little break before jumping into my next concert. That’s it. I have nothing but love and respect for Playground and my colleagues there.”
Megill joined Playground as narrative lead almost exactly a year ago, having worked on other major titles including Control, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and Ubisoft’s upcoming game Avatar.
In fact, we first got our first look at the upcoming Fable title last month on the Xbox storefront, even though it didn’t show off any gameplay. Apparently, the footage was at least in-engine, and if it ends up looking like this, it’ll certainly be pretty impressive. But we’ll still have to wait for any actual gameplay, let alone any sort of release date.
Friends, I have news. In August, I will be leaving my role as narrative lead on Fable. I’ve spent several wonderful years doodling in my fairytale country house, but it seems the time is right for new challenges.
