E3 isn’t cancelled in 2024 and 2025, according to ESA President

E3 remains a possibility for 2024 and beyond, according to an ESA statement. This statement comes after a meeting of the City of Los Angeles Board of Tourism Commissioners that presented figures that took into account the cancellation of E3 in 2024 and 2025.
In a statement to Gamesindustry.bizA spokesperson wrote that the trade body is “currently having discussions about E3 2024 (and beyond).” However, they would go on to state that “no final decisions on the event have been made at this time.”
This comes following the cancellation of E3 in 2023, a “tough call” according to ReedPop’s global vice president of gaming, Kyle Marsden-Kish. In his absence, the summer slot was packed with publisher-run shows, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest and a selection of other individual shows highlighting games in their particular niche.
It’s worth noting that the ongoing discussions in no way point to E3 2024 being a sure thing. The program did not take place in 2023 due to a lack of interest from publishers, something the ESA will have to pick up to justify future programs. After a largely trouble-free summer season of E3-style reveals, and a real-world presence for press and influencers who provided ample interview opportunities and previews, it’s hard to see these companies having a change of heart. perspective about it.
But you never know. Perhaps E3 will return better than ever and offer benefits missing in the current ad season. We’ll have to keep an eye on E3 and the ESA in the coming months to be sure.
