Dave Bautista wants us all to know he would really like to be in the Gears of War movie

Dave Bautista has put his hat in the ring to be thrown into the Gears of war film reminding everyone that he was literally in one of the games.

It was definitely one of the weirder pieces of promotional material for Gears of War 5, but for a period of time you could get a look that was literally just Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista, nothing more stylish than that. Well, just this week Netflix announced a movie adaptation and an animated series is on the way. And Bautista wants to enter, as a recent tweet of his shows.

“Can’t make this any easier,” Bautista tweeted alongside a video of him in a Gears costume, a video that was originally used as promotional material for his appearance in Gears 5. Of course, he tagged the relevant parties, Netflix and the official Gears Twitter, and unsurprisingly, the tweet has received quite a bit of support for his guy auditioning for Marcus Fenix.

If Bautista is cast, it’s not uncommon for actors to try to garner social media support to make their case, as with Simu Liu essentially doing the same thing with Shang Chi. The great advantage of Bautista is that, again, he is in one of the games. He also has the support of Cliff Bleszinskidesigner of the first three games, which is something I guess!

It seems like it’s too early for Gears projects on Netflix, as no names have been attached yet. The announcement is mostly that, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens with almost every aspect of production. A Gears of War movie has actually been a long time coming, with one iteration in development over a decade ago.
