Gear up your neon-colored sunglasses, rage against the corporate machine, and blast the synthwave: ghost runner 2 he’s real, and he’s ready to stylishly split up his preferred gaming rig and run it over with an unnecessarily loud motorcycle sometime later in 2023.

According to a press release, ghost runner 2 is a proper sequel to the hit first-person shooter. It is set one year after Ghostrunner and stars the cybernetic protagonist Jack who emerges from the Dharma Tower deathtrap for the first time to explore the sprawling wasteland beyond.

The studio notes that the original game’s “fast-paced, fast-paced combat” is intact and enhanced for this release, and that the challenging gameplay present in the original title is also a welcome return.

“The sequel promises to up the ante of the original in every way imaginable, including, for the first time, vehicular combat as Jack heads out into the badlands on his new motorcycle,” reads a press release. Could this be the cyberpunk fantasy many expected from CD Projekt Red’s troubled game launch finally coming true? Well, it may be too soon to tell.

Brimming with new powers, upgradable abilities, traversal mechanics, an expanded narrative, deeper world-building, and diabolical new enemies, Ghostrunner 2 is the ultimate power fantasy…every kill will be earned,” the press release continues.

“Adapt yourself and master the game like only a cyber ninja would. Don’t get your hopes up… blood will flow.”

The original game has a 93% user approval rating, enjoys rave reviews on Steam, and has sold over half a million copies. Think of it as a mix of Titanfall, Dishonored, and Superhot, and you’re in the right bunch. The sequel seems to continue the same aesthetic, from what we’ve seen so far.
