Company of Heroes 3 is a great RTS for newcomers to the genre

You’d think a series that’s been a massive part of the RTS genre since 2006 would have little ability to wow you these days, but Company of Heroes 3 proves you wrong. The latest in one of the genre’s most respected and influential series, the game greatly lowers the barrier to entry in its most recent release for consoles… and just might have proven the RTS genre owes itself to a proper one. rebirth away from your home PC.
As you can see in the video above, Company of Heroes 3, the real-time strategy game developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Sega for Windows, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, is understandable, readable, and a great fit. for console
Company of Heroes 3 has been redesigned from the inside out to work and feel right. – when you play it with a pad in your hands. Full controller support, custom UI, and features allow you to play the game at your own pace, so you only struggle in the parts of the game that are supposed to be difficult. There is no artificial difficulty in its struggle with user experience or interface issues. You get time to learn, adapt and respond, making for a real tactical experience.
Much of the ease of use here comes down to the full tactical pause mechanic. This feature freezes the action in an instant, allowing you to read the situation, queue up commands, and unleash devastating precision plays without mess or fuss. It means you can align a company’s stock on the other side of the map while micromanaging something closer in the process – ideal when the theater of war really starts to heat up. .
And this isn’t the kind of RTS that keeps you locked into a single map and campaign. The North African operation is the main story here (focusing on the battles of Tobruk and El-Alamein, among others), but there’s also a dynamic Italian campaign that the developer calls a “sandbox-style” experience, where you have to oversee the Join the war effort in the region as you jump from battle to battle.
Company of Heroes 3 is out now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and it could turn you into a general, if you learn faster than our pair of idiots (and that’s not much of a question, really).
