Blizzard isn’t planning to disable an Overwatch 2 bug that gives Tracer a major buff

A recent bug that has given Tracer a major buff in surveillance 2 the character was expected to be disabled, but Snow storm says it won’t.

The bug in question removes any damage falloff when shooting an opposing player within 20 meters. Normally, the amount of damage you deal scales based on how close or far you are, but this bug means that as long as you’re within a 20 meter radius, you’re essentially dealing maximum damage, assuming your aim is good. . .

Tracer was generally expected to be disabled as a result, but as you caught it PCGamesNa comment from game director Aaron Keller about a reddit post about the error, she explained that she will not be removed from the game.

“Hello everyone. We are currently investigating and planning to fix this bug in a future patch,” Keller wrote. “However, this has apparently been in the game for the last few builds (we just verified it in the Halloween patch) and while Tracer’s heavy damage drop is definitely a bug, her overall power level has been good. We’re not planning on disabling Tracer, and when we fix the bug, we’ll also be looking into additional changes to her kit to compensate.”

The Reddit post gave us a good look at the clip in action showing that one blast from Tracer is enough to take down an enemy from less than 20 meters away, which obviously isn’t the fairest thing in the world. Although for Blizzard it is clearly not enough to remove her from the game, as they have done with characters like Mei and Bastion.

Blizzard has a number of features and changes planned for Overwatch 2. Recently, it began testing voice chat transcripts to help combat toxicity in the game. There are also plans to change how the Battle Pass works in future seasons, as the team is currently not as happy with player progression.
