Blizzard is finally buffing Diablo 4 classes, XP gains from Whispers, Nightmare Dungeons and more in big patch

Apparently, Blizzard is done nerfing things in Diablo 4. Diablo 4’s latest patch is packed with buffs to XP gains, all classes, and a host of bug fixes. The update, version 1.0.3, was released last night on all platforms.

The highlight of this update is the XP boost awarded after completing Nightmare Dungeons and killing monsters in said dungeons. In even better news, you’ll now be able to teleport directly to Nightmare Dungeon via the map, without having to do the trek.

Helltide Events, another endgame activity, is seeing an increase in bonus XP from opening Helltide Chests. Helltide roaming bosses also now drop higher quality loot more consistently. The Whispering Tree now also grants much higher XP rewards for each individual Whisper you complete.

Blizzard said that it plans to increase the density of monsters and elites in end-game content, which is coming to the game sometime after Season 1 launches.

As far as buffs go, all Diablo 4 classes are getting some sort of boost to their power. In fact, there is not a single nerf to any class in this patch. These buffs are meant to hold us back until more significant changes to the relationship between basic and basic skills arrive.

Until then, you can expect a smoother leveling experience and some skill buffs that players haven’t loved since launch. Going forward, we may see minion survivability adjustments as Blizzard monitors feedback.

Patch 1.0.3 also includes a healthy dose of fixes for dungeons, events, local co-op, quests, UI, as well as some miscellaneous gameplay fixes. You can read all the bug fixes below and head over to the blizzard blog for changes for each individual class.

Dungeons, events and other activities

  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to interact with Dead Man’s Dredge dungeon boss.
  • Fixed an issue where certain Whispers could not be completed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Storm Callers event would not register as completed.
  • Fixed an issue where the Storm Callers event would place a permanent debuff on the player that would gradually consume health.
  • Fixed an issue where enemies could spawn behind the sealed door in the Cultist Refuge dungeon, blocking dungeon progress.
  • Fixed an issue where characters could take damage and die during the Stronghold ending cutscene.
  • Fixed an issue where the level 100 Pinnacle Boss would respawn with no health bar if killed during a specific phase.
  • Fixed an issue where progression could get stuck in Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon.
  • Fixed an issue that would result in a crash or freeze if players entered the Untamed Thicket dungeon during the Fangs of Corruption quest.

  • Fixed an issue where the Insatiable Fury and Mad Wolf’s Glee items would prevent Druids from transforming into Werebear or Werewolf Forms.
  • Fixed an issue where Spider Host enemies would remain upright after exploding and dying.

  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to teleport to Cerrigar while in the Cerrigar and Cerrigar Outskirts sub-regions.

  • Fixed an issue where the NPC Lacthan could be duplicated during multiple missions.
  • Fixed an issue where the Evil Devotion quest progression could crash if the player left the basement when Lakren started to get to his feet.
  • Fixed an issue where players would have their progression locked in the Apex of Misery mission if they teleported back and forth during the Destroy the Risen Remains objective.
  • Fixed an issue where the player character would crash if sitting on a chair to talk to an NPC during the Demon Ledger quest.
  • Fixed an issue where Brol and Mother’s chosen would move strangely during the spy scene if the player was near the broken wall.
  • Players can now re-enter the boss area after the follower has joined them during the Storming the Gates quest.
  • Fixed an issue where the Illusion Woods statue could become uninteractive during the Wayward quest.
  • Fixed an issue where the true potential rogue class quest could sometimes fail to complete correctly.

user interface

  • Fixed an issue where the chat could be expanded even when the chat was not visible.
  • Fixed an issue where a party member’s HP bar would appear to be 0 if they left the vicinity of their party without being at full health.
  • Fixed an issue where the “GPU not supported” message would display broken text.
