Baldur’s Gate 3 lets you choose your genitals and flaunt unique underwear styles

Baldur’s Gate 3 allows players to choose their genitalia, and that choice will appear in-game.

The option was first revealed via hell final panelbut only the default genitalia were displayed on the screen.

Baldur’s Gate 3 previews the adventures that await you in Faerûn.

Unlike other titles that allow you to choose, such as Cyberpunk, your character’s genitalia will be displayed in-game rather than just in the menu. The character creator doesn’t seem to have a size slider for genitals, like in the SCUM game, instead the options are listed as “Penis C” for example.

according to a Kotaku interview with Larian’s lead character artist, Alena Dubrovina, not only do you get to choose whether to rock a schlong or a butt, there are also pubic hair options available that may differ slightly by race.

According to Dubrovina, the choice has nothing to do with the inclusion of sex scenes, but instead stems from the team wanting underwear as part of the outfit that can be customized and worn.

Because the team put so much work into the underlying pieces, the team wondered what would happen if the player removed them.

“At first we thought, ‘you know, maybe nothing will happen. Maybe we’ll have another panties underneath. Who cares, it’s just another way of representing his identity,” Dubrovina said.

That being said, if you don’t like nudity, Baldur’s Gate 3 does introduce the option to hide nudity.

The genital option also makes the game more inclusive of players, as the development team wanted to prioritize player expression for different pronouns.

“We were following what the community wanted and we were looking at what other games are doing,” Dubrovina said. “We were looking at what’s being discussed online. There’s a lot of things that evolved, and I feel like, yeah, in general, games are trying to move forward to increase the amount of diversity that they have. We definitely wanted to represent that. So I wanted to give them everyone the opportunity to choose from a wide selection.”

Larian’s plan for extensive player utterance allowed him to plan the voice line recordings to accommodate pronouns, which required more development time. These options do not affect gameplay, but will change the romantic scenes depending on the genitalia you choose for your character.

“[The game] it’s very focused on your identity and the ultimate fantasy where you can be whoever, whatever you want to be, and we wanted to have that represented,” Dubrovina told Kotaku.

The character customization options in Baldur’s Gate 3, in general, are quite extensive; however, some traits are unique to certain breeds. Some examples include horn customization for Tieflings, a certain pattern for Dragonborn scales based on ancestry, and elves not being able to have beards.

Your undergarments may also differ based on your race, but you can choose and wear others throughout the game that are normally reserved for races outside of your own.

That’s something to keep in mind when designing your perfect character. If you’re a D&D purist, you’ll want to keep it a bit canon, or at least a bit, but the ability to change the norm is great. If you want to stay canon with your character, you have that option, but if you want to hang out with him a bit, you can do that too.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is out for PC on August 3 and PlayStation 5 on September 6. While for Xbox Series X/S, the development team is working hard with Microsoft to fix the issues.
