Assassin’s Creed Mirage is getting a colour filter that lets you relive the OG’s glory days

If you miss the original Assassin’s Creed misty blue look, you’ll probably love to hear Assassin’s Creed Mirage you will have a filter that captures just that.

While this may not apply to all PS3/Xbox 360 games, it’s safe to say that many of them looked a bit… off, in retrospect. Color seemed to just disappear, with many games apparently having the saturation turned down and muddy filters placed on top (it’s a lot more complicated than that, but you get the point). Assassin’s Creed was no different, as many of you will probably remember that it was quite a blue/grey game. You might even get nostalgic for that look now, and if you do, good news: Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have a filter to take you back to the far-away year 2007.

Existential crisis regarding how long ago 2007 really was apart, the filter really transports you back to that original game, and it certainly takes the life out of Mirage. However, that doesn’t stop the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account from expressing their excitement, writing: “We’re excited to announce that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will include an optional nostalgic visual filter inspired by the desaturated blue/grey color palette from the first game. of AC”.

The filter’s inclusion isn’t all that surprising as a nod to the first game, as Mirage has been described as a back-to-basics title ever since it was first announced. This one will have a much bigger focus on being an actual assassin, complete with parkour and stealth takedowns. We also have a release date now, it’s coming out in October, and it looks like a game that’s the best kind of remake.

When Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches, you’ll be able to pick it up on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
