Armored Core 6 gameplay is fairly Souls-like, until the Assembly menu shows up

It’s been a little quiet in the Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon front since the game was not shown at E3. Technically, the general public didn’t get to see the game at all at Summer Game Fest, as the presentation was entirely behind closed doors.

While the press and media were treated to a lengthy demo of FromSoftware, the only footage everyone else saw was footage provided by publisher Bandai Namco. However, the quality of that footage wasn’t great, and we never got a clear view of the game beyond that.

Now the same footage has been released in a much higher quality (4K 60fps) and offers a more detailed look at gameplay than any of the previous official footage. The game jumps between ranged combat, showcasing the soft-lock mechanic that allows players to target multiple enemies and attack them all simultaneously, as well as the more standard hard-lock that takes control away from the camera and focuses on a single player. aim.

There are clear Souls inspirations here, but the game is largely a sequel to Armored Core, for obvious reasons. The reality check for Soulsborne fans has to be at the 2:33 mark, where we see in-game mech construction and assembly.

Not only can you customize each limb individually, but you can also choose which weapons go where. There are several fixed points that you can connect the launchers to, and you need to choose a generator that will power everything.

The bottom of that window has the more detailed specifications for each component, its weight, power consumption, and other stats about its combat effectiveness. I’m sure someone is already chuckling, ‘This is the real Armored Core’.”

No one outside of FromSoftware has gotten their hands on the game, so more detailed breakdowns of the game (and how Souls-y it is/isn’t) will likely follow. Until then, we’re looking forward to the August 25 release date, when Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
