Final Fantasy 16 gets a musical adaptation, but you probably won’t be able to see it

The first performance begins in May and ends in June at the Takarazuka Grand Theatre, before another performance takes place between July and August, this time at the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater Performance.

Notably, the Takarazuka Revue musical theater troupe is made up entirely of women, so aside from the fact that all the characters will be singing, the atmosphere will be noticeably different. Obviously this won’t make any difference to characters like Jill, but it will certainly bring a different atmosphere to Clive’s low, husky tones and Cid’s even lower, grittier tones.

If you’ll be in Japan next year and plan to attend the show, please note that you won’t be able to pick up tickets until April 27, 2024, as this is when they will first go on sale.

This isn’t actually the first stage adaptation of a Final Fantasy game: Final Fantasy 10 actually received a Kabuki adaptation, where the entire cast is played by men, at the beginning of this year. The costumes for that one looked amazingly good, so it should be exciting to see how the Takarazuka Revue handles the costumes for Final Fantasy 16.

As part of this announcement about the stage show, Square Enix also shared that the entire Final Fantasy series has now sold over 180 million copies, and with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth coming out next year, there are obviously more sales to come. .
