Ark: Survival Ascendedthe next replacement/remaster of evolved survivalIt has been delayed until October.

As announced in a community blog post, the remaster of the online survival game is set to release sometime in October, though no specific date has yet been set. Notably, the launch will now be early access, and even has another price point: $45, although a launch discount will temporarily put it at $40. Just to keep you up to date, the state of affairs is this: the developer Studio Wildcard announced it was shutting down Survival Evolved to make way for Survival Ascended, making you pay $49.99 for a game you technically already owned, then it was done further expensive after the backlash, and now it’s cheaper again. Just video game stuff.

According to the blog post, Studio Wildcard “has found working with Unreal Engine 5.2 challenging, but at the same time, incredibly exciting. We’re discovering new ways every day to take the technology to the next level; combined with the work required to support an ecosystem of fully moddable cross-platform games on consoles and PC, it’s clear that we’ll need a little more time.”

It is also noted in the post that the reason the game now costs less is that it won’t be able to offer as much content as it had planned for the game’s launch. Early access releases are usually cheaper than the full release, so don’t expect it to stay at $45 forever. In addition to the rest of the delays, the Scorched Earth expansion will now arrive in December, and Ragnarok and Aberration will be available in 2024.

For those still playing Ark: Survival Evolved, the servers will now go offline on September 30, giving you about an extra month of game time.

Whether or not Ark: Survival Ascended launches in October, you’ll be able to play it on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC when it launches.
