Nintendo Direct June 2023 – here’s all the announcements you might’ve missed

Yesterday’s June Nintendo Direct (June 21) was quite the feast. We received five different Mario-related announcements, a Pikmin 4 demo, Star Ocean 1 and 2 remakes, and much more. Overall, there’s a lot you might have missed, so here’s everything that was shown off during the Nintendo Direct.

The Nintendo Direct began with the announcement of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC, Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. This DLC is made up of Teal Mask, which will arrive this fall, and Indigo Mask, which will arrive in winter. Besides, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope it also received a new DLC, The Last Spark, which was released immediately after the Nintendo Direct. A game demo is also available now.

If Pokémon cheered you up, you’ll also be glad to know that The Return of Detective Pikachua sequel to the 2018 Nintendo DS title, it’s coming to Switch on October 6. Our electric-type mouse detective is also still mouthy as ever, you’ll be glad to know.

After that, we took a good look at a game inspired by “Saturday morning cartoons” called MythStrength. This game feels a lot like a roguelike, with a very distinctive art style that certainly resembles the cartoons it was inspired by. Exploring dungeons at this seems like a pretty fun time.

Those who have been enjoying Splatoon 3 will be able to get dirty in a next festive festival, and fans of Overcooked! they can make your chassis look fancy in manic mechanics. This co-op title is all about repairing cards, ships, and anything else as fast as you can.

Dragon Quest fans were also in for a treat, with Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince being showcased, with a December 1 release date. On top of that, the dungeon crawler Gloom Haven is finally heading to Switch on September 18, with action RPG silent hope following him on October 3.

Alternatively, if you’re dying to play (or play!) the Metal Gear Solid series again, the Solid Collection of Metal Gears Vol. 1 arrives on Switch on October 24. This comprehensive collection will include six MGS titles: Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and Snake’s Revenge. That’s a lot to go through, but we’re welcoming it with open arms. Now where is Vol. 2?

The real star of the show during the Nintendo Direct presentation was, arguably, Mario. He and his classmates received five different ads, not including the new wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLCwhich finally adds Wiggler, Kamek, and Petey Piranha to the roster of playable characters.

first a new version of Super Mario RPG was revealed, coming to Switch on October 20. There are great graphical improvements, fresh music, and familiar faces like Mallow and Geno will be back! Besides that, we saw the Super Mario Bros. Wonder commercial, a new 2D action game for the legendary plumber. Wonder will arrive on November 17.

Plus, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Wario had their respective moments to shine during the Nintendo Direct. 3DS title Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is being remastered for Nintendo Switch, and Princess peach is getting its own new game in 2024. The title of Peach’s latest effort has yet to be revealed.

Last but not least of the Mario-related announcements, there will be a new WarioWare title for Switch. WarioWare: Move! will bring minigame mayhem to Switch on November 6, with four-player co-op and over 200 minigames to play. This is definitely one that will open up during couch co-op sessions with friends, that’s for sure.

Pikmin 4 The fans were also in luck. We have received a new trailer for Pikmin 4, showing off the new Glow Pikmin, and a gameplay demo has been released. Additionally, HD versions of Pikmin 1 and 2 have been made available to players on the eShop!

This is not everything! We still have a lot to do, including Star Ocean: The Second Story Rwhich is a remake of Star Ocean 2 and a sequel to the 2019 remake, Star Ocean: First Departure R. It comes to Switch on November 2.

Batman fans will be able to experience the Batman Arkham Trilogy on the Nintendo Switch sometime in the fall, and vampire survivors – The biggest Xbox Game Pass hit of 2022 is coming to handheld on August 17. It also comes with a free single player co-op update to the previous game!

We also got a glimpse of the unusual premise of a pigeon-focused, paced battle royale called headbangerswhere players can compete to be the last bird standing starting October 31. Besides that, Penny’s Great Escapea vibrant platformer from the team behind Sonic Mania, is coming in early 2024.

In addition to all the trailers and announcements, we also got new sneak peeks of sonic superstars, Persona 5 tactic, Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbo Charged, and only two farming sims! These were paliaand fairy farm, which both look incredibly cozy. You can also dance it in just dance 2024 soon, too.

Of all the announcements during the June Nintendo Direct, which one are you most excited about? Personally, I’m delighted with all the Mario titles I’ll be able to relax with during the second half of 2023, but I’m also glad to see Metal Gear Solid coming to Switch!
