Phil Spencer says Halo wasn’t at the Xbox showcase because it has “a lot more games now”

infinite halo was noticeably lacking in recent xbox showcase, so Xbox head Phil Spencer clarified why.
It’s safe to say that Halo has fallen out of favor only slightly in recent years, made even worse by Halo Infinite, a game that has struggled since launch. But it’s an Xbox tentpole nonetheless, so it was a bit strange that there wasn’t even a little thing to remind players that the game exists, not to mention the fact that season 4 is literally releasing next week. Now, in an interview with The GuardianSpencer has shared her perspective on why it didn’t show up, noting that it’s more that Xbox has a lot more games to show off now.
“I wouldn’t say Halo is minor, but now we have more than 20 studies,” Spencer said. “I’ll go back to the years where I basically had four games: Fable, Forza, Halo, Gears, the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Now we have a lot more games.” True, the most recent showcase was one that showcased the fruits of all the studios it’s acquired in recent years, even if not all of them are coming out this year.
“We’ve been pretty public about the leadership change at 343 [Industries]Spencer continued. “You can see that in some of the social stuff [the team have] been doing for seasons, but I don’t want to force them to talk about their long-term vision until they’re ready. I think you’ll see some great things coming.”
It’s more than understandable that 343 Industries doesn’t want to show off what’s not ready, but again: Halo Infinite Season 4 trailer has been released. a couple of days ago, only about a week after the showcase. Overall, an odd choice to skip what should be one of the biggest titles on Xbox. It begs the question of whether we are witnessing the death of the Halo franchise.
