Modern Warfare 2 is getting a multiplayer features fans have wanted for generations
[ad_1]
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can get customizable killcams with editable and messageable gifs, audio, graphics, and more. This reveal comes from a patent licensed for the feature, showing the basic layout of what it might look like, and offering a glimpse of in-game 420 scopeless endgames on the horizon.
A closer look at the patent also shows that it may not be limited to just final kills, thanks to a changeable “trigger” option. In theory, this means you could make the endgame climax show a nuke, a long shot, etc.
Call of Duty has gradually shifted towards killcams as the next frontier of player customization since Call of Duty: Vanguard, where killcam frames were available as paid cosmetics or rewards from the various battle passes. However, this patent indicates that a much higher level of nonsense is being put into the hands of the community.
The obvious hope of this feature is that it allows us to create clichéd, very outdated camera-killing memes that take us back to the good old days. I want my kill cam to be as disgusting as possible, with loud music, spinning gifs, and flashing lights. Perhaps Snoop Dogg, who previously collaborated with Call of Duty, could lend his dance to Drop It Like It’s Hot for that authentic early 2000s feel.

However, don’t get too excited about porting your own assets. While we’d all like to bring our own shitty posts and personal memes to killcams, killcam customization is more likely another avenue to sell cosmetics. Maybe some naughty PC gamers can fix it, but in all likelihood, if you want to fill gamers’ monitors with anime girls rubbing loss in their faces, you’ll have to pay for it.
But, don’t let all that get in the way of great development. This is the kind of feature that gamers have been asking for for years. It’s going to be a lot of fun, although in the broader context of Call of Duty right now, we expect the more substantial issue in the game right now, like making sure the gameplay actually works.
