“It’s about time” – Bastion and Torbjorn are coming back to Overwatch 2 very soon

The wait will soon be over for Overwatch 2 players who have been offline for the past few days. Both Bastion and Torbjorn will return to the roster starting October 25. Finally, the game will be good again now that our favorite robotic boy is making a comeback. Torbjorn’s arrival is also good, I suppose.
This news comes from Activision Blizzard Business Lead Jon Spector, who posted the long-awaited update on Twitter earlier this week. Its return comes alongside Junkertown, a map that was also removed from the game earlier this month due to bugs that caused graphical performance issues. With this return, it seems that some of the major problems in the game are finally being resolved.
As you can imagine, emotions run high among the hubs dedicated to these characters. We already covered the depression that the Bastion networks were in, but please understand, Torbjorn mains was also feeling the pressure. With the end of both groups’ shared crisis on the horizon, I reached out to some of the most vocal and well-known die-hard heroes to get a sense of how things have changed morally.
That starts with the most well-known YouTuber, streamer, and probably Bastion’s lover… Main Bastion. They, as you can imagine, were among thousands of other troubled Bastion comrades with very high emotions with Bastion’s removal. Right now, they are in limbo. “Usually I just play him, but now I play thumbs up playing brigantine.” They later elaborated on their frustration and said, “Day 3, I had a deep existential crisis. BastionMain… But not Bastion. William… Not Shakespeare. Who am I?
Similar frustrations are shared by Voc, a passionate player from the first season who initially chose Torbjorn due to his own hardware limitations and who states that “Torb chose me and I should have played him from the beginning”, after great success with the character in the competitive playlists. Through the years. With his preferred pick also banished to the bug fix mines, they too have experienced a tragic period of downtime. “It was definitely a bit annoying because obviously he’s my guy and I play with him all the time. He was up for a shitty release because he knew it was done fast (9 months from what I heard) so it was a little salty, but understandable.”
As for their reactions to the eventual return of their favorite heroes, there is relief, but also a hint of lingering disappointment due to how long Bastion and Torb have been gone. “It’s really frustrating,” writes BastionMain. “There has been more Overwatch 2 without Bastion than with Bastion. Let me run these games!”
“My immediate reaction was relief that it was about time. I hope that something like this will be modified and fixed overnight, ”repeats Voc. “But I also don’t know anything about game development and what else they have, so maybe this was quick.”
However, despite this situation, both players expressed their overall happiness with Overwatch 2 as a product, both in terms of the changes made and its impact on the popularity of the game. BastionMain succinctly stated, “Oh he’s amazing, one less idiot on my team. I have more impact and my queue time is also shorter.”
“It really makes me happy to see the game thriving again and to see all the new faces showing interest,” Voc concludes. “I have always seen this game as the best game in my opinion. The release was definitely rushed, but I also understand that they were losing people’s interest as time went on, so they almost had to push it back when they did.”
Perhaps a bright future for Bastion players, Torb players, and maybe all Overwatch 2 players now that some of the big teething issues will soon be ironed out. Hopefully, with the return of both heroes and the Junkertown map, the community will finally be able to settle into the next big chapter in the series without any headaches.
